Day 9: Favourite female character in a drama show
Daenerys Targaryen is a bargaining chip: her brother uses her as an attempt to claim the throne that he believes is his by selling her off to a foreign warlord. She makes the best of it, she teaches her new husband that she has value and personality (which is the best reason for gratuitous on-screen sex I’ve ever seen: sex that is actually relevant to the plot!), she gains the strength to stand up to her brother, she begins to speak out and lash out at those who try to torment and control her. She participates in her brother’s murder, she eats the heart of a horse raw to prove her worth as a mother, she euthanises her husband and unsuccessfully attempts to immolate herself in response to his death.
But fire cannot kill a dragon.
