Day 8: Favourite female character in a comedy show

(Boadicea) Geraldine Julie Andrews Dick Van Dyke Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Chim Chiminey Chim Chiminey Chim Chim Cher-ee Granger is the main character in The Vicar of Dibley. What I love about her is that she has fantastically timed physical comedy, something that isn’t often emphasised with women on television. They are dryly witty or outrageously prone to mishaps, but not both. She screams, she is ridiculous, she jumps in puddles that are deeper than she is tall; she is funny not only in a cerebral, sarcastic way but also physically, simultaneously endearing her to the watcher and humanising her. She is the cleverest person in the village but loves to join in with the insanity, and comes to adore every single one of the mad residents.
Did I mention that she is a female vicar and a feminist? And has numerous love affairs and gets married to Richard Armitage in her pyjamas? No?
