30 Days of Women: Day 7

Day 7: A female character that needs more screen time

Betty (Bomb Girls). While all the women on this show are awesome in their own way, Betty is both a badass and closeted. She is obviously doing her best to make friends but often finds it difficult to interact with the other women, some of this due to her own fear and awkwardness, and I think more than one has twigged her secret and chosen not to mention it. She’s brave, excellent at her job and completely willing to enter a confrontation. She is also intensely lonely but ignores it and throws herself into her job. There is an excellent post here about her body language and the way she commands space, which is worth a read. She is obviously crushing hard on her new best friend, and manages to be both tentative, sweet and defensive, often simultaneously. I really feel that she is at the heart of the show, and a woman who can be depended on.
